Bears agree to extension with DL Idonije

05/29/2009 - Lake Forest, IL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Chicago Bears have agreed to terms with defensive lineman Israel Idonije on a contract extension through the 2011 season.

Financial terms of the two-year deal were not disclosed.

Idonije posted career highs with 28 tackles, including 18 solo, and 3 1/2 sacks in 16 games last season for the Bears. He made three starts.

In 71 games, with eight starts, over five seasons for Chicago, the undrafted free agent has 99 tackles with 5 1/2 sacks. He also has 29 special teams stops and has blocked four kicks during his career.

The Bears also agreed to terms with six draft picks on Friday, the highest being fourth-round cornerback D.J. Moore. A pair of fifth-rounders, wide receiver Johnny Knox and linebacker Marcus Freeman also agreed, as did sixth- round safety Al Afalava. Tight end Lance Louis and wide receiver Derek Kinder -- both seventh-round selections -- were the others.
