The procedure was performed by Dr. Lew Yocum in Los Angeles.

The surgery confirmed Kennedy had a complex tear of the medial meniscus and underwent a partial menisectomy.

The infielder is expected to miss a minimum of six weeks and will begin his rehabilitation process in California. Kennedy will then return to St. Louis when he is able to begin field activities.

In 87 games this season, Kennedy is hitting just .219 with three home runs and 18 runs batted in.

The questions really lie on defense, where it feels like DT Ndamukong Suh is going to be trying to stop opposing teams all by himself. This year should show some marked improvement in the Motor City.
